Lee “Scratch” Perry – Revelation

Lee “Scratch” Perry is one of the most important and influential figures in reggae. Whether it was creating the classic “roots” reggae rhythm, producing some of Bob Marley’s early releases or his work with dub music, he has always pushed boundaries with his music. On his latest release, “Revelation” Perry focuses on a dub sound with a little dub-step and some tradition reggae mixed in.

With a solid dub foundation and various forays into traditional roots reggae, “Revelation” is a solid work. It opens with a classic dub vibe on “Revelation Revolution and Evolution.” It moves ito a dub-step vide on “Used To Drive A Tractor In Negrille.” He even pulls a bluesy hip-hop vibe on “Books of Moses.” Lyrically, Perry focuses on tradition Rastafarian relgious sermons and third world politics.

Overall this is an excellent album. If you like reggae and dub with an experimental nature to it, you should pick this album up.
