Quick Review: Worm Ouroboros – Come The Thaw

I wasn’t sure what to expect from the new album by Worm Ouroboros.  I have their last album, but I haven’t really listened to it much, when it came out, I didn’t really feel it and so it was filed away and forgotten. But the fact that they are on Profound Lore, who are on a huge winning streak these days and that the band features Aesop from Ludicra and Agalloch, two of my favorite bands, on drums, I’ve been pretty excited about hearing this record.

The music here is full of haunting melodies, creating a beautiful melancholy atmosphere; it’s the perfect soundtrack to a gloom filled rainy day.  With Aesop on drums, you might expect something harsh and heavy but this is pretty far from that, yet while it may be more somber, atmospherically, it’s just as heavy.
